Up through the Victorian Ages, corsets were very popular with women. Corsets were worn to reduce waist size. A tiny waist made for an attractive figure.
Corsets were made from different materials over the years, including: stiffened linen, wood, whalebone, and wrought iron. Corsets were designed to cinch up very tightly in the back in order to restrict the waist size. Corsets also restricted movement, forcing a straighter posture. It was shameful for women to show any pain or discomfort felt by the severely tight corsets. Unfortunately, many women were not strong enough to endure the punishment of the tight corsets and would experience numbness in their body, trouble breathing, fainting, and even cracked ribs.
Luckily for us women, somebody decided corsets had to go! Today corsets are designed to be both beautiful and functional.
Some corsets are tailored in a camisole style and are made of flexible material which is comfortable for daywear. They are very comfortable under clothing, yet still accentuate curves.
Other corsets are more appropriate for evening wear. Many of these corsets feature boning for shaping and contoured cups. Some are waist cinching and lace snugly up the back, while others have seams down the front replicating the vintage corset look. Corsets can be found as a camisole style or as longer ones which can be worn with garters and thigh high stockings. Most corsets are made from beautiful fabrics and sheer lace. They are available in a variety of colors, including: white, ivory, pink, blue, lavender, red and black.

Are Obese Women Getting Short-Changed By Chemotherapy Treatments?
How much chemotherapy does an obese woman need? Typically an obese woman with breast cancer would receive reduced doses of chemotherapy as they battle breast cancer. Back in June of 2005, a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine concluded that obese women should receive chemotherapy based on their actual women, and not in reduced as amounts as it the standard practice.
And now again a study presented in the August 2005 edition of Lancet claims that doctors should not reduce chemotherapy doses for obese women when no receptors for the hormone oestrogen have been found on the breast cancer cells. This type of cancer is called oestrogen-receptor negative.
Clinicians often reduce chemotherapy doses for obese patients because of worries about how the treatment may react with the patient and affect their overall health.
According to the study’s director Marco Colleoni of the European Institute of Oncology, Italy, and his colleagues, reducing the first course of chemotherapy for obese patients with oestrogen-receptor negative breast cancer proves “detrimental”.
Colleoni and his team looked at the relation between body-mass index (BMI), chemotherapy dose reduction, oestrogen receptor expression, and outcome for pre-menopausal women with breast cancer by examining data from four randomized trials.
They found that 97 out of 249 obese patients received less than 85 f protocol specified dose during the first course of chemotherapy compared with patients with normal and intermediate BMI.
Obese patients with oestrogen-receptor negative disease that received 85 r more of the first protocol specified dose had significantly better disease-free survival and overall survival than those who received less than 85 f the normally recommended dosage.
Yet, obese patients with oestrogen-receptor positive breast cancer who had reduced doses of chemotherapy did not have a significant difference in their outcome compared with those given the recommended chemotherapy doses.
And contrary to popular practice, the researchers also noticed that obese patients initially treated with protocol doses of chemotherapy did not have more toxicity than patients who received reduced doses.
Dr Marco Colleoni concluded that, “Our findings suggest that for women with ER-absent or ER-low tumours, reduction in chemotherapy dose should be avoided.”
The message for obese women coping with cancer is to be aware of your risks and rights. Ask your doctor will she recommend lower doses of chemotherapy for you based on your weight and ask why.

10 Situations where Men and Women Differ So Much!

Then why do YOU think women misunderstand men and vice-versa? One basic fact of life. Women and men are different. I am not talking about their physical attributes, but in their attitudes to relationships.
I am a man, writing this article. I have tried to be fair, but can I tell you ladies, I just can't understand you most of the time. But I am sure that most of you would answer, that you can't understand us men.
I have been guilty of most of the attitudes listed, especially the shopping which I hate. Therefore to go a little way in imparting some understanding, here are 10 situations where the thinking of men and women go in opposite directions;
1) ANGER: When Anger or another problem enters a relationship A woman will want to repair the situation or problem before any sex. A man will think that making love will make it all right again.
2) TOUCHING: For women touching without sex is comforting and very soothing. They find that the touching gives a warm feeling of security. However for men touching without sex can easily be misunderstood and he can even feel threatened.
Please understand that when men touch each other, it is in a rough manner. They slap or punch each other on the back. Tender touching makes many men feel vulnerable and dependent. These have been seen by men to be un masculine. Men find it uncomfortable with so much closeness. It makes them feel vulnerable.
However women are not comfortable without this type of intimacy.
3) TELEPHONE: Men use the telephone or mobile phone as a communication device. It is to send short messages to each other.
However women see the telephone differently. They use it to keep in touch with their friends supporting, helping and growing relationships. They are more interested in people and feelings than objects such as telephones and the latest video games.
4) SEX: When it comes to foreplay, women prefer 40-45 minutes of foreplay. However men on the other hand prefer 40-45 seconds of foreplay before sex
5) GOING OUT: When a man says he is ready to go out, it means he is ready to go out. However when a woman says she is ready to go out, it means she is ready, as soon as she finds her other piece of jewellery and makes just one more phone call.
6) SHOPPING: Women can shop all day and enjoy the whole experience. Its a chance to talk. They use talk to build and sustain connections with others. However men just want finish and close the situation. Its their nature. One can view this difference anytime with couples in shopping malls.
7) BATHROOMS: A man has on average around 5-6 items in his bathroom. A woman on the other hand has over 200 items in her bathroom. Make no attempt to ask a man to identify all these items.
8) DRESSING UP: A woman will dress up to go shopping, gardening, answer the phone, or get the post. A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.
9) CHILDREN: A woman knows all about her children. She knows about doctors and dentists appointments. All their friends, their favorite and not so favorite foods, plus their secret fears and their hopes and dreams. Most men, though not as many as years ago, are aware of some short people sharing the home.
10) TOYS: Little girls love to play with toys. Then when they reach the age of approximately 12, they seem to lose the interest. However, men NEVER grow out of their obsession with toys. As they get older, the toys simply get more expensive. One shopping channel has a section called "Big Boys Toys."
In ending this article I would like to stress the points Not all women are alike - Not all men are alike.
There have been great men and great women who have made this world such a better place. No matter what sex you are I leave you with this quote that applies to all of us.

Dealing With Common Pregnancy Complaints
Pregnancy is not without its side effects. During pregnancy your body will undergo many hormonal changes. These hormone fluctuations can result in a variety of unpleasant symptoms including: nausea, fatigue, bloating and fluid retention and mood swings.
What’s a pregnant woman to do? Believe it or not, there are many changes you can make to your diet that will help minimize many of the common pregnancy complaints you are having.
Nausea/Morning Sickness – This is one of the more common complaints pregnant women have, particularly during their first trimester. Many women find that sipping on some
fizzy soda water with fresh squeezed lemon often helps reduce nausea. Ginger tea is also another well known remedy for nausea and morning sickness. If you are still not feeling better, an extra 10 to 25 milligrams of vitamin B6 is often just enough to help ease nausea. You can take a supplement or try foods rich in B6 such as lean meats, fish and avocados.
Edema – Most women swell a little during pregnancy. The best thing you can do to ease swelling is drink more water. You may think you are already drinking too much, but in all reality you probably aren’t. Some women find that wearing compression hosiery can also help reduce fluid retention. Some women also find that a little extra calcium/magnesium can help combat fluid retention and bloating.
Fatigue – Exercise is often the best way to get rid of pregnancy induced fatigue. Even if you think you are too tired to work out, you’ll find you feel much better after exercising. Eating six small meals per day will also help energize you. Be sure you also consume foods rich in iron to prevent anemia, a common cause of fatigue in pregnant women.
Mood Swings – Mood changes are almost inevitable during pregnancy due to rampant hormonal fluctuations. Be sure you get plenty of rest to help combat fatigue that can contribute to mood swings. You might also consider supplementing with essential fatty acids, which may be beneficial for reducing anxiety and depression.
Don’t forget above all else that most of the symptoms of pregnancy are just temporary, and before you know it you will be back to your jubilant, pre pregnancy self!

Women earn an average of 76 percent of men’s salaries. Does that shock you? Yes, even in 2005, women are still way behind the earning curve in corporate America. But rather than get into a discussion of the fairness or unfairness of it all, let’s concentrate on just what women can do to ensure that they aren’t left out to dry in their retirement age!

Cellulite is probably one of the most embarrassing of all physical faults that women have.
Cellulite isn’t just a problem with the obese or overweight either. Normal sized and even skinny women suffer from cellulite as well!

1. The general yoga exercises are recommended for the first 2 months. You must consult your doctor and find very experienced Yoga teachers. With proper guidance, you can practice some yoga right into labor. If you new to yoga then you should start slowly.
2. Breathing exercises are beneficial if done twice a day. The breathing exercises provide more oxygen and energy both to the mother and the child.
3. Some yoga poses that can help a pregnant women dealing with the symptoms of pregnancy, ensuring smoother and easier delivery, and faster recovery after childbirth. Pregnant women should pay attention not to overstretch the body - the ligaments around the joints become loose and soft during pregnancy. The abdomen should stay relaxed at all times. Difficult and poses that put pressure on the abdomen and other should NOT be done during advance stages of Pregnancy. No any kind of pain or nausea should be felt during and/or after yoga. If this happens, you should stop yoga practise and contact your GP.

What Do Women Want?
“What do Women Want?”

Freud’s famous question – what do women want? He claimed in all his years, he couldn’t figure out what women wanted.
Now maybe you’ve received the “King Arthur’s Dilemma: A Wise Lesson for All Men to Learn” that’s currently circulating the Internet.
Here’s how it goes: As a test, young Arthur was asked to answer the question, “What do women really want?” He finally went to “a repugnant old witch” to get the answer. She said she’d tell him if he’d marry her. He agreed and she gave the answer: “To be in charge of their own life.”
Then the wedding … and Arthur was v. reluctant. But, this being a fairytale, there was more testing of our hero ahead. She appeared to him as beautiful woman saying that since he’d been so kind to her, she’d be a witch half the time, and a beautiful maiden half the time. But he would have to choose when!
He pondered … a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his home, an old witch? Or by day a hideous hag, but by night a beautiful woman with whom to enjoy many intimate moments?
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? Which would you choose?
The fable continues: “Noble Arthur replied he would let her choose for herself. Upon hearing this, she announced she would be beautiful all the time, because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.”
This came to me at an interesting time, having just finished reading “Surrendered Wife,” (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0743204441/susandunnmome-20 ) and also a synopsis of “Men are from Mars” about what MEN really want. John Gray, author of the latter, reiterates, “men and woman have very different primary needs.” Men, he says, need appreciation, acceptance, and trust. He goes on to say “Without appreciation, a person begins to feel inadequate and incapable of giving support.” Funny he switches to “person” here. An unappreciated man, he says, becomes “passive, lazy, weak, dependent, insecure and apt to procrastinate.”
But then so do I. Actually, I get ugly.
My answer to Freud’s question “What do women want?” has always been “The same thing men want.”

Can Women Build Big Muscles? Why Women Can't Build Big Muscles Easily.
Why Is It Difficult For Women To Build Big Muscles
"I don't want to workout lifting weights because I don't want to build big muscles " or "I just do aerobics and sit ups to lose weight because if I lift weights, I may build muscle and looked like a man."
Ladies. Have you made these comments before? Awww... c'mon ladies, if you have ever uttered these words, you have just done a terrible disservice to yourself and are missing out on many great benefits that working out with weights can give you. Have you ever pointed to your belly or butt and sweetly proclaimed, "I want lose weight here." So managed to convince yourself that sweating profusely is the answer to a slim and beautiful body and you hit the gym day in and day out just to sweat off your tummy or butt fats!
So you peddle away on your stationary bike in the gym just like little hamsters or frantically stepping away on the step up machine and then you woefully do crunches after crunches in the hope of having a flat belly and a well rounded shapely butt not realising that there is no such thing as spot reduction.
You never even bother take a look at the weight lifting machines or the free weights lying everywhere in the gym not to say even touching those weights. Gosh.this terrible myth of building big muscles on women is creating so much fear in women causing them never to train with weights at their detriment.
Ladies! If you are listening, I want to say this loud and clear. There is no way women will build big huge muscles unless you are on special supplementation and specially designed training system. Some of those muscle bound ladies you have seen may even be taking steroids which are banned and obviously harmful. never never touch steroids to build msucles.
So the, why is it difficult for women to nuild big muscles? Well, it is simply because you do not have enough of tetosterone, a male hormone that encourages your muscles to grow. In fact, women have ten to thirty times less of bodybuilding hormones, tetosterone than their male counterparts. Women who accept the myth that they will build big muscles if they workout with weights will miss out on all of the benefits that weightlifting and bodybuilding can offer. This myth is so ingrained in women's psyche that even after explaining the facts to my women clients, they are still afraid to lift weights. So will women who lift weights in their workouts build more muscle tissue? Yes, of course, but it will not be those big huge muscles like those of bodybuilders. Your muscles will just tone your body shape resulting in a tight, firm, healthy, attractive and desirable body. The body shape that is ever so sexy and healthy. Yes, you may have noticed an increase in weight when you step on a scale. This is because muscles weigh more than fat. Thus, as you increase your muscle tissue, your weight will increase but your fats will be reduced giving you a well toned sexy body which most women can only dream of.
Muscle burn calories naturally even when you are sleeping. In fact, research has shown that for each kilo of muscle you build, you will burn 70-100 more calories per day. So, if you gain 2 kilos of muscle and lose 2 kilos of fat, you will burn about 75 more calories per kilo, which equates to burning 150 additional calories per day, which translates into 4200 additional calories per month and ultimately results in a fat or weight loss of 7-8 kilos a year without doing anything! One kilo is 2.2 pounds. Doesn't that sound great?
Another reason that women should do weightlifting is the benefit it can have on your bones. Weight training is a powerful preventive action against osteoporosis, a disease caused by porous bone and low bone density. Women has a much higher risk than men to suffer from osteoporosis. In fact, most women will suffer from this disease as they age. Those plagued with osteoporosis have an increased susceptibility to fractures. These fractures can even be fatal. So, women should exercise with weight to strengthen and increase bone density. Research has shown that six months of weightlifting may increase bone mineral density by as much as 15 percent. As you increase your muscle tissue, your bones must adapt to accommodate this increase in your muscle mass . So your bones respond by increasing in density. The result? You will own a stronger skeletal structure and a reduced risk for osteoporosis.
So, don't completely swear off weightlifting fearing that training with weights will build big muscles and turn you into an Incredible Hulk! You won't and you can't. Period.
OK girls, the weights are over there. Let's lift them now! Have the last laugh when your girl friends tell you that they don't want to lift weights and yet watching you transform your body that will make heads turn when you are in your bikini.

Women's Small Business Expo, Palms Springs
I didn't really know what to expect other than what I had read on the Women's
Small Business Expo web site http://www.womenssmallbusinessexpo.com
and what Linda Hollander, the founder, had conveyed to me during my first
women networking event in Beverly Hills about two months ago. In short, it
was phenomenal! I'm glad I attended the 3-day seminar in Palms Springs, CA
at the end of April 2004. First, I really didn't think I was going to go given the
fact that most of my time and money were dedicated to my company, which I
officially registered about 4 months ago. In fact, because my business was
just born, it actually made sense for me to attend.
It was my first business seminar ever. So far, I've mainly seen and heard from
my husband how he thinks business should be done, but I have a complete
different view. Consequently, you really can't discuss your visions with
someone who doesn't share your approach on how to do business. As a
result you start doubting yourself after a while, right? You start doubting
yourself because you don't know any more than what lies within the barriers
of your daily environment. You can't really know anything different unless you
get to taste a glimpse what lies beyond those barriers. No one is going to
break those barriers for you. You have to do it yourself. So I did.
There were approximately 10 speakers present, talking about strategies in
marketing, power networking, risk taking, financing, success, internet, media
approaches, and getting your product on the market. The overall feel of this 3-
day seminar surprised me. I expected some boring lectures on business, but
instead the speakers had filled the room with an unspeakable energy and
vibe. 200 women were captured by the words of extremely motivated and

they were going to do. My doubts had all of a sudden disappeared, and were
replaced with confidence and heightened self-esteem, motivation and the
urge to move on. I met a group of people who shared my vision, a group of
women who thought like I did.

and what Linda Hollander, the founder, had conveyed to me during my first
women networking event in Beverly Hills about two months ago. In short, it
was phenomenal! I'm glad I attended the 3-day seminar in Palms Springs, CA
at the end of April 2004. First, I really didn't think I was going to go given the
fact that most of my time and money were dedicated to my company, which I
officially registered about 4 months ago. In fact, because my business was
just born, it actually made sense for me to attend.
It was my first business seminar ever. So far, I've mainly seen and heard from
my husband how he thinks business should be done, but I have a complete
different view. Consequently, you really can't discuss your visions with
someone who doesn't share your approach on how to do business. As a
result you start doubting yourself after a while, right? You start doubting
yourself because you don't know any more than what lies within the barriers
of your daily environment. You can't really know anything different unless you
get to taste a glimpse what lies beyond those barriers. No one is going to
break those barriers for you. You have to do it yourself. So I did.
There were approximately 10 speakers present, talking about strategies in
marketing, power networking, risk taking, financing, success, internet, media
approaches, and getting your product on the market. The overall feel of this 3-
day seminar surprised me. I expected some boring lectures on business, but
instead the speakers had filled the room with an unspeakable energy and
vibe. 200 women were captured by the words of extremely motivated and
inspirational speakers. It was unbelievable!

Female Hair Loss: once a mystery
During some time, people used to believe that female hair loss was related to heredity. Since this condition has been a nightmare for many women, the Medicine started to study this case and the revelations are amazing.

The appeal of a bad boy
So what is it about the 'bad boy' that attracts women so strongly to them?
In case you did not know, a healthy traditionally raised woman would run as far away as she can from a bad boy because she knows that he will bring too much drama, pain and hurt to her in the long run. In a traditional society that is not influenced by popular American culture, the bad boy is seen as an outcast of society (unless idolized from American cinema).
They're only real chance used to be with slummy women or those who were on the outside of society as well. Now of course the bad boy is glorified, as he is often the answer to a lot of our so called 'bitches' (in a respectful sense of those that define themselves as such) and their need for social validation on their level and also to keep them in check in the more traditional male-female relationship dynamic.
It is important for you to realize that bad boys do have a lot of drama, and troubles. Traditional women, I have seen personally stay away from these kinds of men.
I think if you can be a natural man and yet still possess some of these characteristics will still been in control of them, you will be able to also appeal to a woman's social persona as well. This means doing things like being a little bit cocky, teasing her, enforcing your independent boundaries and generally not giving a damn.
Today's women are so desperate for the underlying male-female relationship dynamic where the man is really the one in control, that they will often settle for bad boys and loser type jerks only because they treat them in the traditional dynamic of not letting them get away with crap.
A traditional woman does not have to try to get away with crap, because she doesn't have crap that she is coming with to get away with. She is MUCH simpler and this is not a bad thing. This is why a normal healthy nice guy can easily attract a traditional woman anywhere in the world (as I've done dozens of times) and be fascinated how everything just is 'natural'.
It is this 'cultural differentiation' especially that allows me to bring a great level of insight to the table. If you are a nice guy or a great catch, you should not want to become a bad boy just in order to get women because that may be all that you are a seeing that is going on and is not the only solution (not to mention unhealthy if you really aren't like that).
A bad boy is successful with our (American) independent, hot women because he does not let them get away with crap. He knows how to naturally trigger the physiological and emotional response mechanisms of attraction in her because he is playing a strong male role that she is biologically forced to respond to.
There is a high amount of leverage in these women that will either work for you or against. She can be repulsed by one man and that same energy, even more strongly attracted to another. Maybe you have seen this in front of your very eyes.
Nothing has really changed when you look beneath it all, because our women find that none of their 'real' counterparts are acting like men anymore, so they end up going with the bad boy or someone who they know is not healthy to be around, yet is the only one that is giving her the natural triggers of uncontrollable attraction which is irresistible to her.
My good news for you is that you do not have to become a bad boy, like I said, you can actually be a pure natural who is above the level of player status when it comes to attracting women and being successful with them.
Nice guys still have a chance but only if they really understand the concepts which I cover in my "Men's Guide to Women".

Women�s Health Test Is There an Early Signs of Menopause Test?
